How to do pizza

Ashley , on March 22, 2018 at 11:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 21
I want pizza at my wedding. The only I love more than pizza is the groom to be. My bridal party love the idea and says it's so me. But I don't know how to do it . I've looked at different locations to have my reception and none of them will do pizza. I then thought out just ordering pizza from like pizza hut or somewhere but then I have to figure out how to keep it warm. Also figuring out a location that would allow outside food brought in.

I just need some ideas to help me figure this out

Maybe look for a pizza food truck type of thing. I had a distant friend who got married and they had a woodfired pizza truck come and do pizzas for the reception. It was in Western Washington, so I'm not sure if there is something like this to look into near you, but worth a look.

Eeeeeh this is one of those things that is better in theory than in actual execution.
If you are absolutely committed to this idea, please do NOT force your guests who spent money on outfits, travel, accommodation, gifts, etc to eat crappy pizza like dominos or Pizza Hut.
If that is your only option I would really urge you to reconsider this plan.

Wood fired pizza food trucks might be an option, if you can find one near where you live!

I wouldn't want to go through pizza hut for pizza. I'd rather go through another pizza place but I'll look into the food truck idea! Thanks for the help

Definitely find a venue where you can do a food truck! The wood fire pizza ones I've tried are amazing.

Can you find a local caterer who would work with you to execute this? It sounds like something you need to leave to the pros if you want it to go well.

Can you do something else for the main meal, and pizza for a late night snack, so it is still included.

Maybe you could incorporate pizza instead of having it as the main food. Pizza could be a great appetizer or late night snack. Or have it as a station with other stations like tacos, pasta, meat, etc.

Some venues (lots of wineries I’ve seen) have wood fired ovens of their own and could probably do something like this. I would consider adding maybe two pasta options and some salads as well.

I hate food trucks,, waiting in a crowed to get to a window that will serve you decent food.

We were initially going to do pizza from a wood fired truck but they refused to bring the pizzas inside the venue. We didn't want people having to wait outside so we decided to go a different route altogether.

Idk where you’re from, but I’m from New York and people would NOT be happy with a Pizza Hut pizza. You might have some local caterers that can do a pizza buffet. Or a pizza food truck.

Another option would be a pizza type of appetizer at cocktail hour if you are doing one of those. Pizza bombs, pizza on a stick, pizza rolls, pizza dippers, or something like that could be really nice to get the party started or have at the end of the evening. Just wanted to add that in case a caterer who couldn’t do whole pizzas would be okay to go with the pizza idea on a smaller scale.

If I went to a more formal type wedding and the main meal was pizza, I'd be disappointed to be perfectly honest. That being said however, if it was served as a late night snack after a couple hoiurs of drinking and dancing, I'd be all for it!! Our venue actually comes with a late night snack option. Our dinner will be a dual entree with soup, salad, bread, and sides and then 90 minutes or so after dinner, there will be pizza and wings served. So excited about it. I would talk to your caterer about doing pizza as either an appetizer during thed cocktail hour or as a late night snack.

I recently went to a formal wedding where wood fired pizza was served as the meal. While the pizza was delicious, we had to wait a lot longer for the food, because they can only bake so many pizzas at a time. The idea was great but the execution was off.

Could you do square cuts of pizza at the cocktail hour and get your guest a little nicer of a dinner? If not no worries. But I agree that people who are traveling and spending money to be there might not be trolled to have Pizza Hut. If it’s important to you, maybe see if your caterer can add pizza as an option rather than the entire meal

Just here to say, I love pizza hut and I love the idea of being served pizza at a wedding. Pizza and tacos are high up on our list of "fave foods" (next to chik-fil-a). I think its important to remain true to the things you like. I don't think it matters if you're trying to do it as an app or as a late night snack - hopefully there is someone in your area who can serve pizza HOT to you and your guests. LOVE THE IDEA!

I can't tell by your original post if pizza is what you'd like to have as a main meal or just incorporated into the night somehow, but I love the idea of having pizza as a late-night snack!

My FH and I love love love tacos, so we opted to do late-night mini tacos an hour or two after dinner.

Does your venue have any sort of oven where your caterer can do slices of pizza or even little personal pizzas? Making some sort of pizza appetizer is always an idea too! I would reach out to whoever is catering your event and even your venue to see what your options are.
