How to do a Blessing before Buffet style dinner

Jessica, on November 17, 2015 at 1:31 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

We are having a buffet style dinner at our wedding. It will be pretty casual and there is not going to be assigned seating. I'm just wondering what the best way would be to include a blessing before dinner in a situation where people will not all be seated at the same time.

We are doing all of our toasts and speeches right before dinner. Should the person giving the blessing do the blessing after the last toast just before dinner is announced? Would that be weird since people won't actually have their food yet?

We did ours right before the food was served and the buffet line started

I would give it right after the last toast, just prior to people getting their food. I don't think that it will be weird at all to not have their food in front of them. In fact, in my family when there is a big meal ie Thanksgiving, we pray before we get our food. The food is buffet style, and there are TONS of options. If we waited for everyone to make their plate before prayer, some people would have cold food. Same with a wedding buffet.

Please do it before half of your guests are staring at their food (or feeling awkward when it starts because they already started to eat) and the other half are still waiting to get it!

Do it right after the speeches before dinner is announced. We had buffet and the DJ announced for everyone to sit for our entrance from there we went right into a welcome speech and then the blessing, it worked out nicely.

Right after the last toast, before the buffet opens.

agree. Right after the last toast. Announce the buffet will be opening soon but before that you would like to say a blessing.
