How to distinguish the fil and fob

Sarah, on March 23, 2018 at 10:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I am going to pick out suites for the groomsmen (navy with blush pink tie) and am not sure if I should have the dads get the same suit or how to distinguish them from the rest. Also how to distinguish the groom. My colors are white, blush pink, and gold. Help!

First of all your fathers can wear what ever they wish. If you care to distinguish them get them boutineers. Your fh can wear a different color suit from his groomsmen, or a different tie, or both. However, he should choose his own clothes as well as those in his party

There's really no need to distinguish the groom through his clothing. He'll be distinguished by where he is standing at the altar and by getting married.

Let the dads wear what they want, just as the mothers do. Get the dads a boutonniere to help them stand out.

FH is wearing a dark grey suit, GM in navy. So that's how FH stands out.

We let our dads pick what they wanted to wear. My dad picked a grey suit (I don't know the shade, I haven't seen it) and FH's dad picked black.

We had the guys were navy blue suits (they got to pick the suit itself so the style and fit worked for them) we provided navy ties and my husband wore a navy tie but it had flowers on it. Dads wore what they wanted and got boutonnieres

Our dads wanted to match the wedding party. FH and the groomsmen are wearing light grey suits and the dads are wearing the same one in a darker grey. I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate something a little different so the two of them don't look exactly the same. Different ties, maybe?

If they want to wear navy to match the party you could always do a different color tie - if the groomsmen are in blush, maybe a darker pink? Or grey? Gold sometimes looks funny in fabric and may not match your color scheme.

I wanted FH and each groomsmen to wear a different shade of blue for a tie, but they all may just end up matching with navy. I'm not sure if/how he will be different than the groomsmen. We are going tomorrow to finalize everything.

FFIL is planning on buying a suit. My dad will likely rent a tux, since he is hosting the wedding. I saw a nice one that was darker gray with black lapels, but he will pick whatever color/type he wants. FH and GM are all wearing the same light gray tux, but the GM are wearing standard ties and FH and the RB will be wearing bow ties.

And, the guys are wearing gray vests that match the tuxes and white ties and pocket squares; they aren't matching the BM.

My FBIL and his two groomsmen wore navy suits. The groomsmen wore pink ties and a patterned pocket square while the groom had a grey vest, navy tie and a different patterned pocket square. For the dads I would just let them choose what they want to wear and get them a boutonnière.

The only requirement I gave my father is please do not show up in jeans! My dad is very "rough" around the edges type. So he is going to come in about 5 days before the wedding and we are just going to go to the suit store and pick him something out to wear.
