How to distinguish duplicate names on escort cards?!

Samantha, on September 10, 2019 at 11:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

My FH's family has quite a few people with the same name - first AND last - due to tradition. How should I label their escort cards so they know which one is theirs?!

Good idea - I'll ask for that, but I have a feeling that that might be the same too

Are the middle initials different? Are they juniors, seniors, etc? Maybe line the cards up so their cards are next to their wives/dates? Better yet I would stick them all at the same table!

It's not JR/SR, and my wedding venue will only set up my escort cards if I hand them to them in alphabetical order, to be set up that way - so they will be next to each other. I wish I could put all the duplicates at one table!!!

Are any of them Jr. or Sr.? Or do you call one Little John and Big John? Or John "Little John" Smith?

Maybe they will figure it out based on who they are sitting with? It's probably unlikely that your young single cousin for example will be sitting at a table with your great aunts and uncles.

Same thing with my family. I'm going to use Aunt or Cousin before the name. Probably not proper, but it is literally how family refer to us - i.e. Aunt Kelly or Cousin Kelly.

That's a good idea, I might have to do that as well.

Nope, they all go by the same name! It still really confuses me being around his family because they could say "Sami" and it could mean one of 3 different people.

Following! FH is from a family where the oldest man in each generation has the same first name. Hypothetically, if they all attended (grandpa, uncle, cousin, and cousin's son), we would have *four* people with the same first & last name at our wedding! I plan to use middle initials or something if more than a few are there.

Yes I see, what about like someone else said nicknames? When we are all together and referring to first name only we say ...”cousin Larry, uncle Larry” and so on, the older ones call my hubby Lil Larry 😂
