How to delete WW website

Miami2NorthernVA, on June 5, 2017 at 8:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

How can I delete my WW website? I was upset to google my name and see it pop up (I like to limit what is publicly searchable about me). I want to delete it immediately but can not figure out how to do so. The only options I see are for deleting sections, but the site still comes up when I search my name. It just comes up with a blank template.

Often it takes a few days to process. Check back in a few days to see if it's gone.

OG Kathryn, I have to deactivate my entire account just to get rid of the website?

If your name is still coming up after deactivating, the account may be inactive but Google hasn't removed it from their search yet. Those two things happen independently of each other. You can contact Google directly and tell them to remove it from their search engine. You have a legal right to be forgotten on the internet.

Just go to settings and you can choose to have your website searchable or not.

@MsMac I didnt want to deactivate my account just to get rid of the website. I will if I have to. I think it is silly I can't just delete it though.

The quickest/easiest way to hide your wedding website is to password protect it,

Hover over 'Planning Tools' and click 'Wedding Website'

Click the 'Edit Website' button next to 'Website Snapshot'

    Click the 'Settings' button

Under 'Website Privacy', change the switch to say 'Yes' in order to password-protect your website

Enter a password in the box provided

    Press 'Enter'

You can also make it unsearchable, and hide pages.

WWJo I did make it unsearchable when I first set it up but it still comes up. I started just deleting all the pages but I want the entire website gone. There isn't just a delete site option?

I just did a search for your name and I got the message that your website was unsearchable, so it seems you've done everything correctly to hide your site

ETA it may still be coming up for you because you are either logged in, or it is cached on your computer

Just to clarify! The "Make website searchable" toggle only refers to whether or not your website is searchable in the WeddingWire couples directory:

    https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-directory

All WeddingWire websites are indexed by major search engines.

You can take down all of the personally identifiable information on your wedding website or password protect your website with the instructions WWJo listed, but the only way to fully remove your WW wedding website is to deactivate your WeddingWire account (which can be done under My Settings).

WWLynnie thank you. I think that is the problem I came across. Someone I work with googled my name and found my wedding website. I didnt think that they could do that because I tried to make it unsearchable. I will change my last name. I didnt want to deactivate my account but I guess i can if that is the only way Smiley sad
