How to decide guest list when i haven't been home in a year?

Tracie, on October 9, 2019 at 6:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
Double posting today 😁😬

I moved away from the states in May 2018. Met my FH while away, and now live in his home country. I've only been home once since I left, and it was too short to see everyone.

We're getting married in my home state, and planning to keep our guest list under 75, but I'm having SUCH a hard time cutting. I know the typical rule is to cut those that you haven't seen or spoken to within the last year, but how do I decide when I haven't even been home?

I would still abide by that rule. Even though you haven't been home, Skype, email, WhatsApp, etc are all ways to keep in touch with people. If you havent even had a virtual conversation with someone since moving to a different country, are they really people you can't imagine being at your wedding?

I agree when it comes to friends. But what about family? I'm fairly close with my dad's family, but not as much my mom's. Do I not invite my aunt and uncle just because I haven't spoken to them, even though I once lived with them?

I would invite in circles starting with your immediate family, aunts/uncles, 1st cousins, and a few close friends.

I would invite those you really couldn't imagine the day without! After that, if there is still room, invite in circles!
