How to deal with Dress Guilt?

Destiera, on August 13, 2019 at 1:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I got my dress first try in bridal dress shopping and I love it more than absolutely everything. But, I’ve been having major dress guilt because I only went to one place. Is it normal? I want to try on more dresses but I know I can’t because this is the dress I chose! It’s the one and I know it yet I feel so bleh about it because I wish I tried on more.

How do I deal with this or did anyone else have this problem?

Do you want to try on more dresses because you think you're supposed to or because you are still looking for something? I think we all watched our share of Say Yes To The Dress and dream of those moments we devoured on screen. But that isn't the way for everyone. My first shop I only tried on two dresses. It was the most amazing experience and while I didn't buy either one, it showed me that the silhouette I was already looking at was exactly what I wanted. I tried on about 6 or 8 dresses at the second shop and it was a total nightmare. I bought my dress online and could not love it more. Do you have your dress yet? Maybe trying it on again will help these feelings.

I went shopping one time, tried on five dresses, but I knew which one instantly. When I went for my fitting I saw this blush dress with silver straps and thought I’ve made a mistake. But when I got my dress back altered and fitted, I fell in love all over again. It’s perfect for my venue, matches my decor better than blush would, and looks amazing on me. Now it’s been another year and I can’t wait to wear it. Some people try on forty dresses and never cry or have a special moment. So I wouldn’t worry.

I only went shopping one time as well. I tried on like 15 dresses. My dress was number 12 or 13, I can't remember. I was just super happy when I put it on. I just got my dress last week and it's better than I remembered! I wouldn't worry about it either.

I got my dress this weekend on my first trip, and I am a little disappointed that I don’t get to go to multiple stores. Decided with my MOH that we’ll make a whole day out of bridesmaids dress shopping to help with that. And I still need to find a veil and belt so there’s still pieces of the whole experience in the future. I’m trying to focus more on the fact that I found the perfect dress and it is going to completely surprise FH as it’s almost exactly what I kept saying I didn’t want haha

Just try on more! I bought something online before trying on a lot of dresses and choosing a new one. You can always resell your first dress on Poshmark or PreOwnedWeddingDresses if you find a better one.

Yes I had this. I felt like I rushed the "experience" and even thought I loved my dress I felt like I robbed myself of trying on more dresses at a leisurely pace. So I did what everyone says not to do and tried on more dresses (I went to 3 other places by myself because I was embarrassed to tell anyone- ha ha). This is a risky, risky game! I ended up finding a top pick at 2 of the other places but ultimately re-confirmed my decision that the one I chose is "the ONE".

I thought about doing this myself. I just love my dress so much but I’m worried if I try on more that I might change my mind. Ahhhh!!

If your dress feels right, then don't push it. You were one of the lucky few that found her Dress right away.

Dress guilt is completely normal and I think it’s normal to want to try on dresses. However if you know this dress is the one then don’t go try on anymore
