How to creatively cover my cleavage?

Nicole , on December 4, 2018 at 2:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Hello All! I absolutely love my dress and I cannot wait to get married in it! However, when I bought the dress, I always intended to creatively cover my cleave exposed by the VERY deep v. Now I’m struggling to come up with a pretty and practical way of actually covering up. Does anyone have any thought? Please keep in mind that this dress requires tailoring and the straps will be shortened. Also, there is a sheer panel in front already. Thanks so much!

I would attach a darker (white maybe?) sheer panel to the one that already exists? Are they taking any fabric off the bottom.. maybe you could use that. You might ask the person doing the alteration if they can add beading to a panel insert that matches your dress, so it is more elegant?

Gorgeous dress! I would talk to your seamstress about adding in a modesty panel. If there is any leftover fabric from your dress they can use that. If not, hopefully your seamstress can suggest a fabric that would work.

Maybe put a less shear fabric over the shear fabric that is there?

Would it be possible to get the lace of the dress to put in place where the sheer panel is?

I had the SAME problem as you! Same mesh and everything, different dress. I was going to swap the mesh out for lace, but I decided that my dress is okay as is because I wasn't blessed with cleavage- but you were lol. It's definitely a know your crowd kind of thing. Do you like it, or do you worry about what other people will think? Because the dress definitely doesn't look bad, but if you're uncomfortable, I would recommend swapping out the mesh for lace. There isn't really a darker mesh that won't look weird with the dress,

Also, I'd love to know what shapewear you're using, if any. I want to smooth my pooch but most shapewear is visible with such a deep V!

Yup. Great ideas and let your seamstress suggest fabric options.

Hi Nicole! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement!

Your dress is gorgeous! Smiley heart I agree with the others here, perhaps a darker shade of sheer panelling and/or some lace could help reach the look you have in-mind. Smiley heart Have you talked to an alterations specialist or seamstress about making this change yet?

Such a pretty dress. I think replacing the sheer mesh with lace would look nice.

Thanks! To answer your question, I’m actually not wearing shapewear. I’m wearing a u bra with a low back (check out amazon) and a basic half slip. Happy wedding to you!

Thanks everyone! I had a fitting and we decided to replace the white tulle panel with a few layers of nude tulle. Also, we are going to make the tulle start a little lower, so you’ll see some cleaveage, but not nearly as much as shown here. I am so much more comfortable! Thanks again!
