How to address invites when one person in the family is not invited?

Olivia, on June 26, 2022 at 10:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I’m going to send my save the dates soon and from my understanding you send one to each household that’s invited.

I’m not sure how to send the save the save when I’m excluding a family member- I don’t want to send them addressed “To the Smith family” and give my cousin the impression he is invited.

Further context: my aunt and her 2 adult son and daughter live with her. I’m inviting my aunt, her daughter (plus one for daughters fiancée) but not my aunts son.

Should I send 2 save the dates/ invites? One addressed to my aunt and one to my cousin?

Is there a better way to go about it? My aunt and cousin know he is not invited and understand. But Im sure he is not aware.

Adults in the same household should all receive separate invitations.

Single unattached guests 18+ receive their own invitations. Be aware that their housemates will contact you for clarification assuming that you forgot to include the one.

Save the dates are traditionally done over the phone per household. Unless you decide to call them individually.

Yes, send save the dates so there is no room for confusion. With this group I would send a separate STD to each guest and their SO by name. Then if time goes on you're still covered.

Also STD's are a relatively new thing. You don't have to send them at all.
