How to address invite for unmarried couple & child

goldenday22, on March 17, 2016 at 10:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

We're having outer envelopes only; FI's step-sister has a child & is engaged (not to father of child), her & her fiance don't live together yet - I think it's ok to just send an invite to the sister & indicate all invitees there.

Here's what I have now, which fits how I've been addressing the other invites:

Jane Smith &

Bob Anderson

Mary Smith

123 Smiths Street

Smith, Ohio

12345

It just seems long, and weird to separate the sister from her kid..

I don't know the proper etiquette but I had a similar invite except the bf lived with the gf and the child was his. I simply put Jane and Mary smith and Bob Anderson. It's probably not the proper way but things are different now! Back when these etiquette rules were made you only had people with the same last name living together. Lol

You don't use the "and" if they are not married, just the three names on three lines. So if you want mother and daughter to be together, it could be:

    Bob Anderson

    Jane Smith

    Mary Smith

I have no advice, but I completely understand the pain of invitations. I started addressing mine now so I wouldn't be rushing last minute. Between unmarried couples with children and remembering to use full names not nicknames I am just about over the invitations.

I was planing on just adding and family after the couples names for mine. But my wedding is going to have a casual feel to it so I'm not sure if that is a factor
