How soon to book DJ..

June is a poplar wedding month. I really don't think there is a right time, but you dont want to wait too late. We booked ours in Dec '14

We booked ours April or May of 2014 for our June 2015 wedding.

If you have a specific DJ in mind then I would go ahead. I think I booked the DJ with like 9 or 10 months left. If you go with a bigger company, they'll have your date open longer bc they have more than one DJ. The only thing I would be leery of booking and paying real early is if you're using a small company or independent person. We almost booked with a new, small company bc my favorite DJ in life was working with them. We ended up not bc they couldn't offer us all the services we needed for our budget. Well that DJ is now no longer associated with them at all and while we could've still had a DJ through them with a contract, it wouldn't have been the one we wanted. We ended up booking with a bigger company.

I would start looking now, the sooner the better. we booked ours in November '14 but we started looking around June.

I used the wedding wire and theknot checklists. i think the order of importance they put things in is perfect. AND you can NEVER book a vendor you are sure about too soon as your date could get booked by someone else. Just go in order of importance and get things done/booked as quick as you can. the planning with the vendors can happen later after everything is booked.

My wedding is also June of next year and I booked my DJ back in February. Things are booking very fast so I wouldn't wait too much longer.

We are booking out DJ this weekend I hope. Our wedding is 17 months away. Explanation: We really like him, its just him that owns the company, so he only does one wedding at a time (no other djs in the company he can book and send) and music and sound equipment is really important to both of us because of the style of the venue.
