I'd start looking now. Alterations take a few months so you definitely want to make sure you have time for them.

Go into the appointment just thinking you want to see what you like. You don't have to buy the first time you go out. Have fun the first time, try on every style possible until you find one you are comfortable with! Then go from there. Also, set a budget and don't look at any dresses over that price!

NOW! It can take a while to find the right dress and if you buy from a bridal shop you typically have to order a dress and it can take a while to come in.

I got engaged in August, we picked our venue in September, and I started dress shopping right away. When I went to a bridal shop in September the dress I liked the most would have needed to be ordered in October in order to arrive in January and give them enough time to do fittings (the bridal shop did a first dress fitting four months out) before our wedding at the end of May. So the timeline for that dress was 8 months out.

I just went bridesmaids dress shopping with my MOH last week and we would have needed to RUSH order her bridesmaid dress from one shop in time of our May wedding. So those bridesmaid dresses needed a 4 month lead time.

I'll also point out that you can get a dress sooner in a pinch, but if you want to have the most options available to you, start right away. If you wait too long, you'll be much more limited.

I ended up getting my dress off StillWhite and from purchase to having it at my door was maybe a week, but I'm lucky that dress worked out for me. Once I had my dress it felt like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders! I would start shopping now for sure!

Girl I would go now! I recently started dress shopping and all the bridal shops told me I am cutting it close for alterations and the making of the dress they want at least 9 months out. BTW My wedding is in October.

I'd go asap. They can take 6+ months to come in and you'll need time for alterations.

I bought my dress in November 2019 for a March 2021 wedding. It's never too soon if you know what you're looking for and don't plan to change your mind or fluctuate much in size. But once you decide on a dress, stop looking or you might get second thoughts!

ASAP. Like yesterday lol. Youre going to start paying rush fees if you wait longer.

Definitely start now. Some dresses take 6+ months to come in and alterations can take a couple of months. My dress took 4 months to come in.

Start looking now. I am getting married in October and my dress won’t come in until July and I have to get some alterations done on it after that also. You have time to find the dress. But the one you fall in love with might not make it in time or not without a hefty rush fee if you don’t start shopping soon!
