How soon in advance should I get my dress altered?

BloodhoundLover, on August 6, 2015 at 12:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

It's a little snug, just need the seams let out. I already checked, and there is plenty of fabric left in the seams. I was going to try to lose a little weight. How soon in advance should I get my dress altered before the wedding? I don't want to wait until the last minute.

Here is the dress. It should be a pretty easy fix.

My wedding is 9/19 and I had my first fitting on July 18th. Mine needed to be let out, my second fitting was 2 weeks after on August 1, and it needed to come out more, my third fitting is August 21. I would start about 8-9 weeks prior. However, it really depends on your seamstress. I would call and ask.

My wedding is also 9/19 (Hi Date Twin!) and I had my first fitting July 11th and it took two weeks. I didn't need another set of alterations, just some random loose beads she repairs-- so 3 weeks total. I would recommend not waiting less than 5 weeks out.

You need to ask whatever seamstress you're using how long they need to get it done. It is a busy time of year with all of the fall weddings. I'd call now and get an appointment scheduled on the calendar.

My wedding was June 26 and I had my first fitting 13 weeks before the wedding on March 25.

My 2nd fitting was 5 weeks before the wedding on May 20.

My final fitting and dress pick-up was 3 days before the wedding on June 23.

My wedding is 11/6 and I have my alterations consultation on 8/11. Depending on the price of my alterations I may just start the process that night.
