How noticeable is veil color?

Kendra, on August 24, 2018 at 11:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

First off, my dress fitting is tomorrow (yay) and I just tried it on again after 5 months and it fits pretty damn well (double yay). I also tried on my cape veil with it and I LOVE the look. I feel awesome in it. The issue I'm having is that I remembered the dress as bright white, so I ordered a white cape veil. The dress is actually ivory. It is not a big color difference and I could only really see it at certain angles in indoor lighting.

Should I even be worrying about this at all? Is anyone even going to notice in person, in pictures, etc? My instinct is just to let it go but the veil cost more than the dress... and I would have to take it as a hit if I reorder it. Thoughts?

I would say it'd be noticable, depending on how much detail is on the veil. You could see about having it dyed ivory possibly. I'm not sure if a seamstress shop would be able to help. Also if you could find a matching fabric swatch of your wedding dress. That would help anyone who is able to do the job.

I honestly don’t see why this is a big deal. I got my dress at BHLDN, and the color is called “almond,” whatever that means. I think it’s supposed to be white with ivory tulle. And the model is wearing a veil that I also bought, which is described as ivory. Lol I guess it just depends on the dress! Here’s a photo of my combo for reference.

It’s totally noticeable. I photograph weddings and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had brides with ivory dresses with a white veil or vice versa and it totally shows in pro photos and doesn’t look right.

My dress is cream with ivory detail and my veil is ivory. I like the contrast.

Hi Kendra! I am so glad you're feeling so good about your dress! Smiley heart

It depends on the dress/veil, fabric, and style really if the white & off-white coloring will be noticeable or not.

If you haven't had your fitting yet, you could bring it with you and get some other opinions? In their good lighting and with your dress on, seeing the entire look all-together and proceeding from there. Smiley smile
