How much to spend on shower gift?

I haven't really been to a wedding shower before and I'll be attending one soon. I just ordered some cute champagne toasting flutes that they had on their registry, I really love them and I'm glad they'll be able to use them for their special day. I just ordered some cute champagne toasting flutes that they had on their registry, I really love them and I'm glad they'll be able to use them for their special day. I only spent $20, should I get them something else from their registry? Or is it the gift that matters, not the cost? I know it will be different regionally but just curious, how much do you typically spend on a shower gift?

I had a shower two weekends ago. At NO point during the shower or after have I thought "Wow, whoever only spent $15 on a gift to bring to my shower." I have however thought SEVERAL times, "Wow, we really got a great haul. That was such a fun day & hosts did an amazing job. It was so nice to spend to spend the day and feel so loved by those ladies." I say buy what you can afford and that champagne glasses & a bottle of champagne is a perfectly fine gift! If you absolutely want to add something a pretty picture frame could be nice or maybe a cute tea towel.

@tealwedding and @queserasera in some areas showers are also thrown by a couple's church or work colleagues so it's possible not everyone at the shower is invited to the wedding. They're more a generic group celebration of the marriage than the shower traditionally thrown by the bridesmaids

I'd get a bottle of champagne to go with the glasses.

I think what you got them is a good gift but if you wanted to get them something else, you could always get them another small item off of their registry, something in the $20-30 range. Or a bottle of champagne to go with the glasses.

I have spent in the range of $30-100 on a shower gift. I don't think you should ever spend more than you can afford.

If you are looking for something to add to the champagne flutes besides champagne, consider a set of 4 coasters or cocktail napkins.

If there isn't much on someone's registry, I'll usually get one or two small things and add a gift card from the place they registered.

Did they register for something like a cake knife and server? I always think they go with the toasting flutes as they are used at the reception. If they didn't register you could always find some that match style of flutes.

I tend to give around a $20 gift. And we do around $50 for the wedding. Except our siblings we go all out. We have his brother $500 for his wedding gift. There are just so many showers.

I will generally budget about $100 for a wedding I am invited to. Any other events that I attend that require gifts will be deducted from the overall budget. I don't believe a $20 gift set from the registry is an inappropriate gift for a shower.

If you want to give something else, get them a gift card to BBB, Amazon or some place you know they like to shop.
