How much to spend on ring bearer gifts?

Alexandria, on April 4, 2018 at 2:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
My ring bearers are my nephews, 8 and 11 (at time of wedding). They’re at an age where they want to be cool and aren’t into playing with toys anymore. I did find a cool gift I know they’d like- a personalized cash lock box to keep their allowance money, but it costs $27 + shipping. That’s a little more than I wanted to spend but I know they’ll use it. Otherwise I could buy them each a bag and put some candy and treats in there.
Just curious how much others spent on gifts for the little ones?

Well, this is coming from an Asian background. I gave each the flower girl and ring bearer $50 each. Tbh that is a bit much for little kids but in my culture certain numbers are bad (i.e. the number 4) and we only give money in red envelopes. But they had to come from another state and they are family so we thought it was justified. I realize that this may not be helpful to you but that's what we did.

That's about how much I was planning on spending. I figure they'll only be in my wedding once so I wanted to make it special and splurge a little more than I normally would for a gift.

I say follow your first mind. I'm not one to encourage candy. Dental bills are expensive. Maybe take out for ice cream or one of those kid places like Chuck cheese.
    I'm just suggesting.

I think anywhere from $20-$50 is appropriate. Our ring bearer and flower girl are 3 and 5, so I planned to get them each an LL Bean canvas tote bag with their names embroidered on them and fill them with things to keep them occupied during the day of the wedding - coloring book, legos, snacks, puzzles, etc.

I'm not having a ring bearer but, I think spending $30-50 is reasonable. I would get the money box instead of the candy. Candy isn't really special and is something they can get any time.

If we all tell you to spend $100 each, are you going to do i?

I think you should spend what you can afford.

You should spend what you can afford but I wouldn't go with a bag of candy (that seems too juvenile for their ages). Amazon has lots of kids' banks with locks for $15 and under if you still want to get them that.

For reference, I had 2 ring bearers (4 1/2 year old twins) and I spent about $30 on each, I got them Legos sets.

Game stop gift card or cash with as much as you feel comfortable with. They're young and it's your big day, it's not like it's their Birthday, theu should feel special if you jist say they look bery handsome and you appreciate them acting so mature & want to thank them with a little something.
Heck- I'm 25 and wouldnt expect anything for showing up to an event, they really shouldn't either.
