How much to pay for Calligraphy?

Carol, on April 6, 2018 at 5:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
Hi all-

what do you think is a decent amount to pay a teenage to write your addresses out for? I have the worst hand writing, but a girl I know who is excellent at this stuff and loves doing it offered, but I have no idea how much is decent to give her? I have 50 envelopes that I need written out!

$4 per envelope. $2 per rsvp envelope. Her age shouldn't factor into it that much if her work is so good you are considering her.

I agree with Nas, her age isn't a factor. The same amount of work is required whether she is 15, 50, or 90.

I've heard anywhere from $2-5 per envelope with extra money for wanting items centered on the envelope or for extra lines. $2-3 would be for RSVPs and $4-5 for invites.

This link gave a pretty good price list including extra fees:

I mentioned her age for reference of experience. She’s intermediate, i wanted to help her out but I’ll look into other options Smiley smile

    thanks ladies!

I met with a stationary designer yesterday and was quoted $3.50 per envelope for calligraphy. We aren’t doing RSVP cards so not sure how much extra that would normally be.

Ask her what she wants for it. If she’s just starting, she may do it for less.

I completely agree with this. I have done work for people that I wasn't a professional at and would under charge a bit because in the long run it helps me to get experience.

My calligrapher charged me $3 per envelope and she was really good in my opinion. When I was considering using a stationary store that would handle everything including outsourcing the calligrapher they told me $4 an envelope. So $3 when you work directly with the girl sounds right.
