How much should i budget for my florist?

Sarah, on August 2, 2019 at 4:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
I'm trying to work out my wedding budget before talking to a venue and vendors, and I have no idea how much to budget for a florist.
In my dream, Pinterest wedding I want a floral arch, lots of eucalyptus and peonies, a nice bouquet for myself with greenery bouquets for my five bridesmaids, simple boutineers, greenery garlands on my tables, and probably other touches of flowers and greenery decorating the reception space.
Does anyone have a ballpark estimate of how much that would cost? I know there are a million factors that will go into the cost there, I just need a base budget to get the ball rolling.

I would budget $1,000 - $3,000. But this will depend on your area. I am from a small town in VA, and my flowers ended up being around $1,000. I had a large cascading bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid's bouquets, flower girl petals, 12 boutonnieres, 4 corsages, 2 arch arrangements, and a bulk mixture for me to put into vases on my tables.

I just did my budget and then found vendors that fit what I wanted to pay so you're doing it a bit differently than I would. Honestly, I've seen a huge spread of pricing. You could pay anywhere from $1000 to $5000 for everything you want. I think some of the eucalyptus/greenery costs more than some flowers.

I would set a base budget and see what various vendors can offer you off of that. Some do have minimums! I had a max $200 budget for flowers, and one place I reached out to and a minimum $1500 fee lol. Hard pass for me!

Yeah, so many factors come in to play when pricing flowers and floral arrangements. I'm not doing any floral decor, and I'm doing artificial flower bouquets, because here in CA, flowers are super expensive!!! And they all die. I found something that will stay beautiful forever!!

But if you want a base number, depending on where you are, I would budget at least $3000 for what you have pictured above. If you are in a lower cost of living area, that number could go as low as $1000 I think, but again, so many factors. Your geographic area, the kinds of flowers, the amount of flowers vs. greenery, the configurations, all play a part in the cost.

It's funny, I wanted all that stuff too, until I found out how much it all cost!

Yeah I would say 1,000 -3,000 for everything you would like. Hav Ryori thought about DIY some of it? Like the centerpieces or the boutonnières? For my bridesmaids bouquets the cheapest I got prices for was $45 each and it was just a bundle of baby’s breathe.

I paid $20 per foot for seeded eucalyptus garland for my tables ($160 for each 8 foot table), $100 per bridesmaid bouquet, $275 for my bouquet, $25 per boutonnières, and $40 per corsage.

Garlands are priced by the foot and usually range in price from $15-$30 per foot. I had garlands that I used for the ceremony pews and then re-used them for the centerpieces at the reception. These cost me around $1000. My bouquet had peonies, roses, anemones, berries, and greenery and cost $125; each bridesmaid bouquet was a smaller version of mine and cost $60 each. Overall, I paid around $2400 for everything. My estimate for what you have pictured and described above would be at least $3,000 but could be a lot more depending on how many feet of garland you need. I would budget $4000 to be on the safe side.

One thing I noticed is that peonies are kinda expensive and even more so not in the spring. I would guess $2500-$4000 for what you want

Peonies are more of an expensive flower. That’s what I am getting for mine and bridesmaids bouquets. But to save some money I’m using some less expensive flowers in the same color for my centerpieces.

They are a spring flower so they will not be in season when you have your wedding either.

My florist is estimating $135 for my bouquet (I'm not super picky about flowers and didn't want a huge bouquet, mine will be 9 inches, I think?) and $70 per bridesmaid. If I wanted more greenery than flowers, that would lower the cost. She also estimated $300 for my arch flowers, which is like what you have pictured with the two pieces asymmetrical. I'm not sure how large that is, though. Again, more greenery than flowers would lower the cost.
Depending on what season you're getting married in, some flowers will be more expensive to get in than others.
There was a tutorial on here a few months ago that explained how to do a ton of great floral work by ordering in bulk from Sam's Club. That might be a way to go! Does anyone know the post I'm talking about? She had a ton of pictures and step-by-step instructions. I'm having a hard time finding it now.

I'm in CT - our flower budget was around $2,000 for one bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, a greenery garland with artificial flowers (didn't want real flowers to wilt in the August heat) to decorate our gazebo, and 18 centerpieces

I’m doing almost the exact same thing for my wedding. Depending where and when you’re getting married will play a factor. I would budget between 3,000 - 5,000. My future MIL is a florist and is doing all of my flowers as part of our gift. I believe her cost before market up would be around 2,500 - 3,000 for the flowers/greenery. I’m also having A LOT of flowers/greenery as that’s my main decor with candles (arbor with full coverage, 8 12ft tables, 4 6ft tables, the aisle, bouquets and greenery and flowers over the fireplace).

I love your inspirational pics! It’s going to look so good!!
