How much is too much?

Alysa, on June 8, 2013 at 1:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

Few questions here.

How much did you spend on favors for your wedding? What would be an average price?

Also, how much are you supposed to spend on bridal shower favors and prizes? I'm helping plan my friend's bridal shower and my own and I don't wanna spend too much or too little.

Keep in mind favors are definitely not a requirement. You can easily spend anywhere from $0.25 per favor if you throw a few pieces of candy in a cute bag and DIY. Couples who shop through us spend $0.75 for the personalized candy wrapper and then about $0.60 for their chocolate bars if they get them from one of the warehouse stores.

We stocked up the day after Halloween when all the candy was on mega sale, and wrapped and boxed it and put it in our closet. We're going to have a 'candy buffet' with all different types of chocolates/candies/mints and baggies for people to take what they like. I think we spent $40 total on $100+ worth of candy, and our planner has cute glass jars for us to use to display them in! win win win!

What do you ladies think about how much to spend on shower prizes for games?

You could do gift cards to Starbucks, etc. Bath and Body Works has some great lotions and candles that can be put together, and they always have great deals. Kitchen items are another great idea: whisks, bamboo spoons, dish towels, soaps, etc. Really depends on how many games you are playing. I wouldn't go overboard with the prizes. Boxes of chocolates or a bottle of wine are always hits as well.

For a shower gift I spend anywhere from $30-$50 and as far as favors, we're going to end up spending $15-20 per person.

We're doing a candy bar, which is doubling as our favor. I've budgeted 100-150, which averages out to 1 dollar per person.

IF we do them (we haven't decided yet) we are doing personalized yankee candles. They will come to about $300.

For the wedding, we didn't do favors. Not a big fan of wedding favors. Hard to please that many people of different ages and tastes and stay on a budget. If I were doing wedding favors, it would have been 1-2 chocolate truffles in a small box.

For a shower, I've seen prizes all over the board, but usually things like lotion, candles, foot scrub or a cute cami make good prizes.

Edible things make nice shower favors. I like to do a cute sugar cookie (homemade is great) in a little cellophane bag with ribbon. Inexpensive, cute and edible.

PS, favors are completely optional. I've been to weddings and showers with and without them. I didn't think worse of anyone for not having favors.

I wouldn't worry about a favour for the bridal showers, especially if money is tight! For prizes, $5-10 each is good.. I personally wouldn't go over that.

Wedding favours - we are ordering wooden snowflake ornaments from etsy, it will work out to be about $1.50 per person.

We're having glow sticks for a fun tribute dance to my late Dad & sparklers for our send-off. I'm hoping not to spend more than $150-$200 total
