How much does David’s bridal charge for bridesmaid alterations?

on November 27, 2018 at 5:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I know it’s different for everyone but how much would it be to take inches off the bottom and take it in? Anyone have experience with David’s bridal?

I can't give you a number, but DB is notorious for over charging and doing a mediocre job. Find an independent seamstress.

My BM dresses were all from Davids Bridal and I was told it all depends of the fabric and length to be cut off. Their dresses were a silk material and needed about 4-5 inches cut off. They quoted us that the price can range from $60-$75. One of my bridesmaids has a sewing machine so after watching a few youtube videos, she ended up cutting all the dresses so we were able to save.

Another thing I'd recommend is to go to the dry cleaners or any other place where they do alterations. Just put a safety pin at the bottom of the dress indicating how much you want cut off and let them know. We did this with my moms dress and we paid $22 at a random dry cleaners place. They had the dress ready in 2 days. Good Luck Smiley smile

Dry cleaners, dressmakers and tailors are rarely more than one half the cost of Davids, and have a much faster turnaround time. The advantage over those wh rarely see is that having the machines set to do fine fabrics , gauzy to satin, tulle, or lace, they will have most notions, and special presser feet at hand. And do fine, nearly invisible hand stitching. Where David's, someone measures you, pins, then off to a sewing shop, so work is linger. And small alterations or a hem, if machine work, may be done while you wait at a tailor or dressmaker. So long as you sit quietly. So they can baste it in place, then you try on, then adjust. So when you leave, you know ready in a week. Not measure and baste, then next week try on, then another week for work.

They charge 30 bucks per player. Just had my bridesmaid dress from a wedding a few weeks ago done. My dress was 2 layers, chiffon, and it was 60 total. They did an okay job. If I had a sewing machine I probably could have done a better job.

I agree with finding a local, independent seamstress or shop. You’ll have better work done for a lot cheaper.

I had some length taken off and it taken in a bit in the chest and it cost more than the dress itself! $140

Forgot to mention that was for a bridesmaid dress, not my wedding dress
