How much did you spend on your dress?

Black DahliA, on October 23, 2013 at 11:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 62

How much did everyone's dress cost? With all the alterations and an unexpected expense (petticoat), my dress is about $1050. I think it's a bit much. This is what I get for wanting a pink dress. If I had gone the traditional route, I could've found something much cheaper. Oh well.. At least it's pretty.

I bought a Maggie Sottero sample and haggled the lady down to $1,000.00 with free alterations.

My budget was $1000, but if i absolutely fell in love with one, that was negotiable. DH always said that he didn't care how much my dress was as long as I loved it.

In the end my dress was $1250 with veil ($400) and jacket ($30 - made it myself). After making my jacket, i would have gladly paid the $200 they wanted for it. I realized it was cheap considering all the time I put into it, lol.

Mine with alterations came to $1055. So, our cost was about the same. I think that cost was about average with my friends. I had not expected to pay that much, but I had a list of things I HAD to have (ex. corset) and I wanted a particular designer. But after watching SYTTD, it seems very inexpensive.

    Dress $1100

    Straps $200

Alterations- don't know yet. The designer will get my measurements and make the dress to fit me. Most likely it'll be for the bustle and the sleeves that I get alterations done.

    Bra-dunno

    Veil-godmother making

    Shoes-mom is surprising me

    Jewelry- no clue.lol

    Hair clip - $45-50 I think.

Dress $1350 (Which my dad paid. He felt bad not being able to pay at all for the wedding, so he said he'd at least pay for my gown. I'm so thankful for it!)

    Slip $100

    Veil $260

    Alterations $350

    Bra $60

    Shoes $30 (DSW Sale!!)

    Pearls & earrings $70

I never wrote it all out before.. that sure is a lot of money on my person at one time!

Dress and veil were purchased together and were $851 out the door taxes included from David’s bridal.

    Alterations were $170

Total cost of dress and veil everything included = $1021

Wow that’s the first time I’ve tallied it up together, didn’t realize I was past the 1k mark!

Edit: I bought bra cup inserts on Ebay and had the seamstress sew them in – I think they were like $10?

    Shoes: $113 (cowgirl boots)

    Jewelry: $130

My dress budget was $1000. I was sooo disappointed with myself that I went over. With tax it was $1272.39 (before tax it was $1189). Still pretty good considering the dress was supposed to cost $1399 before tax. I bought the sample.

No veil. Haven't done alterations yet. Bought a hair piece for $37 on etsy. FH insisted on buying my shoes. With the dyeing and everything I think they ended up being $141.
