How much did you spend on a Dj?

Hey everybody, My boyfriend and I are planning our wedding for end of next year and I’m trying to work on a budget. We’re both very very new to wedding things, so I just wanted to see what the average price for a DJ was. Our reception will probably be around 5 hours. Thanks!

This is totally going to vary based on your location. We paid $700 for 6 hours and this included uplighting.

The prices vary by location but mine it $975 total in Massachusetts but a lot of them were like 1,500 and up for 5 hours. Mine is just basic DJ for reception and not the ceremony. I'm using a violinist for that.

Actually on my DJs site he said the costs are cheaper because they dont advertise on the knot and wedding wire. It costs a lot to do that which makes their costs higher. Try searching on google for a cheaper DJ to see if that helps. Or maybe if you have any aspiring DJ friends?

I'm in St. Louis and we got ours for $900. This includes ceremony and reception. I am in the wedding industry though and because I've worked with this DJ, we got them at a discount. Normal price, and about average that I saw, is around $1400.

In upstate NY, we're paying $1200 for ceremony music, cocktail hour music/entertainment, and reception music/entertainment. That's with a 33% discount (original price was $1800).

I am trying to decide this too! My cheapest option is $895 and I got quotes up to $2500 as well.

My husband and I's DJ was $1000. That included the ceremony and a 5 hour reception. For our area that's not bad at all. Our DJ was a close friend of one of my husband's best friends and gave us a discount. He normally charges around $2500.

I am getting married august 28th 2020 my dj was 700 for 5 hours but most djs are 1000 and up. Because of covid 19 he gave me a deal, my photographer too a 40% and my videography a 25% discount.

Ohio and mine is $850 $1500 with the photobooth which we are doing. 5 hours.

He did throw in the ceremony for free because the venue we are using has the uplighting so he wont have to use his which is included in the price.
