I’m having trouble figuring out how much alcohol to buy. my venue is byob and I’m struggling hard. I have about 70 guests and it’s a 5 hour reception. How much booze should I buy?

The calculator is a good start but don’t rely on it entirely. It estimates every guest having 1 drink per hour. You have to know your crowd, because I know mine definitely would have far less than 1 drink per hour. Also depends on the setting and time of day of your reception. People are more likely to drink a lot at a late reception with lots of dancing. If it’s a casual afternoon reception people won’t drink as much!

I would say it depends on your guests. I have about 200 people coming to my wedding and we got six bottles of 5 different kinds if alcohol. We are also get 1/2 a barrel of beer. When it's gone its gone.

I'm having the same dilemma! I am estimating 80 guests for a 6 hour reception along with a 2 hour welcome party the night before (beer and wine only).

Here is what I'm getting: (and I've been told by a corporate party planner that this is too much but I feel like its not enough). I also have hired a bar company to do mixers and liquors for fancy mixed drinks. Not doing any frozen or bloody marys.

    White Wine: 6 cases

    Rose wine: 2 cases

    Prosecco: 4 cases

    Red wine: 2 cases

    Vodka: 4 handles

    Jack Daniels: 6 1ltr bottles

    Don Q Rum: 2 750ml bottles

    Tanqueray Gin: 1 750ml bottle

    1800 tequila: 2 750 ml bottle

    miller lite: 6 24 packs

    Heineken: 2 24 packs

    Blue Moon 2 12 packs

and random 6 packs of craft beer that are on sale
