How many types of desserts for dessert table?

Sara, on June 13, 2021 at 1:43 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 10
Hi my Fiancé and I want to do a dessert table for our wedding rather than a traditional cake. We are planing to cut a small round cake for us and various desserts for the guests. How many types of desserts/candy do we do? Not sure it matters but we are expecting 100-150 people.

It depends on your budget. Whatever you serve needs to be enough for everyone. Don’t have cake if you aren’t sharing with guests. If you have cheesecake or brownies, make sure there is enough for everyone to get at least one serving.

That’s up to you! I agree with what Michelle said, make sure you have enough of whatever it is that there is one serving per person. Feel like there might be a lot of left overs though unless you allow guests to make goodie bags to take home

I really recommend Jamie Wolfer's video on this! She recommends having 3 to 5 different options to cover different flavor types (chocolate, sweet, fruity, etc.)

The cake is going to be small for our cake cutting and then we are saving the rest for our anniversary and will most likely be boxed up once we are done. So I’m not worried about that.

You can absolutely just do a cutting cake & have 3-5 selections for guests. We were going to just do a single small cutting cake for us only, but since we have only 50 guests and the cakes we are considering feed 25-30 ppl, we may actually just get 2 and use that as one of our selections. We are going with a cake from Publix. Also considering offering to-go boxes in case there are left overs.

Many people have said that year old cake is not edible and that they wish they would have just served it and got a fresh cake on the anniversary instead.

Good point Michelle, I’ve heard the same thing! We definitely weren’t going to wait for our one year. Sorry I wasn’t clear in my original post. We were thinking more of a one month anniversary or after everyone flies back home (we live out of state and everyone is flying here for the wedding and going to party the rest of the week after the wedding day). We also were gifted a special bottle of wine from the winery where we got engaged so we wanted to drink that with it.

Love the to go bag ideas! I like the idea of the mini desserts so that would be perfect.
