How many per table?

KarenS, on September 21, 2014 at 4:38 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I can't figure out what a reasonable number of people per table is for a 60" round. Some sites say 8, some say 10 but I don't want folks squeezed so tight it's uncomfortable, The centerpieces will be about 18" diameter and incorporate the table number. Each place setting will have basic utensils (1fork, 1 spoon, 1 knife), napkin and wine glass. Also on the table we'll have a pitcher of ice water, two bottles of wine, bread basket and butter.

I can have 9 tables of 8 or preferably 8 tables of 9 but I don't want everyone to be too crowded. The 8 table option will provide more moving around room under the tent but I don't want to do that if dinner will be cramped.

So help! Do I go with the 8 tables or for the comfort of my guests do I need to go with 9?

We will have 60" round tables where we will be sitting eight guests per table; we're all about comfort for them!

Nothing worse than a wedding where someone is constantly knocking elbows into you or trying to back up their chair and wailing into yours.

We also did 60" round and 8 per. Anything more gets squishy.

For the 60" round tables, we are doing 8 to a table. We went to a wedding in April. We were seated 10 to a table. It was so crowded. For your guests comfort, I would say 8 to a table. If you have an uneven number of guests, table of 9 is okay.

We had 60" rounds. We had a smaller wedding, but some tables had five guests and others six (we had a seating chart). The size was perfect for the six, I can't imagine putting more than that, but I know its been done.

I did a little Googling, and found a site http://www.pacificpartycanopies.com/resources/choosing-linens/ that gives info for ordering table linens, it says 60" round = 8 people. That sounds right to me. It's hard to google and find a 60" round that seats 9 - all the images I found were for 8 people. Therefore, if you want to avoid squished guests, go with 9 tables of 8.

I don't know the size of my tables, but the manager said that we can fit anywhere between 8-12 people per table and they won't be cramped. But he said we can have 7 or 5 people and add more tables if we want to do it that way. But we are maybe using 12 tables that will hold 144 people if we do 12 at a table, but I doubt we will have that many people. So it really depends on the number of people you have. I want the guests to feel comfy and we will def have the room if we decide to do more than 12 tables.

We also have 60 inch or 5 foot round tables. If you have large people on your guest list you really cannot get more than 8 to a table.

Edit: Also depending on how big your centerpieces will be, if you have a salad plate, bread, and an entree plate it will be crammed with 8 people at the table.

I would go with 8 per table. This was part of my logic when I booked the reception venue. I wanted the bigger room since the other seemed cramped when I thought about having 10 at each table. I got the bigger room on the premise it is easier to guarantee 120 then stay under 150 and be cramped.

We're doing 8. I made this same post a little while ago if you want to google it and get a bunch more answers.

I'd suggest you go with 9 tables of 8. It's just more comfortable for everyone.

My venue specifically told me the 60" would hold 8-10. There were a few I put ten at. They were not squished at all.

Thanks, I'll plan on 9 tables. If we get a few more who decline, I might squeeze some of the young kids in to make a couple tables of 9 if it works out but definitely no more than 8 if they are all grown ups.

At my venue the tables can fit 10 but I think that's going to be a little too tight. So we're going to have 8 per table.

60" round can comfortably seat 8. 72" rounds can comfortably seat 9-10.

8 people of "average" size for that table. My mother is on the bigger side (and admits to it) and is uncomfortable and feels like she invading people's space
