How many people use shuttles?

Muffinbutton, on November 10, 2016 at 9:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I still have time, but we are contacting shuttle/bus companies. I'm looking at options and trying to figure out how many trips/shuttles we might need. I have no idea what to plan for on this, but I want to get it reserved soon.

Any estimates on what percentage of people actually use shuttles?

Need more details. Where are you getting married? Where are guests staying? What's the parking like at your ceremony and reception?

Sometimes not as many as you would think. We set up room blocks in 4 hotels, for a total of 70 rooms. Guests only booked 30 rooms in 3 of those. I have no clue how many other hotels had rooms booked. I'm guessing at least 6 others. Some guests stayed 20 miles away, to save money.

We stayed at the hotel that did the catering for our reception, at a historic venue across town. We were able to get a 15 passenger van from them, for certain hours of the evening, for $150. It was filled with the bridal party going there, but only 4 from the bridal party, going back. I know at least 3 other people used it - possibly that was all. One family of 4 had a 17 year old to drive them. Other guests wanted to leave when the van wasn't sitting there. My parents and grandmother had stuff to take to the venue, so they didn't use it

I know from experience that getting everyone there at the same time is difficult. It happened to an out of town wedding I attended. Everyone wanted to leave around the same time, so those that didn't fit in the van drove themselves. I attended another wedding where the planner signaled the start of the ceremony, at the exact minute scheduled. He ignored the fact that there were a lot of empty seats. The final van arrived just as the ceremony ended. One of the readers was among the late group. She burst into tears and was distraught.

The majority of our guests live between 15 minutes and an hour from the venue. Some out of towners. Extremely close family will stay at the venue with us (it has 8 rooms) and we are doing a block at the closest hotel for anyone else.

No issues parking. Every guest could park if they wanted to, we're doing the shuttle so people can drink and get back safe.

    150 guests.

If they're drinking, they'll probably stay at your room block. If it's a major chain, they may have a shuttle that you can pay a little more to use for your guests in your room block.

If they're drinking and not staying at the hotel, hopefully they're responsible adults and have a DD!
