How many napkins/plates should I get?

Mrs G, on August 17, 2013 at 2:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I know...plastic/paper is sometimes looked down on here. BUT...how many napkins do you get per person and how many paper plates should I get? (I'm getting the thick Chinet ones) 175 people invited.

I'd plan on 1.5 for each person, or 2 per person.

IF you're doing buffet style, I'd do at least 2 plates per person, if you're doing family style, I'd do closer to 1 per person with some extras. For napkins, I'd get at least 2 per person, more if you're serving anything messy (ribs, pasta with sauce, etc), and maybe look for the bigger, thicker paper napkins as they're better at absorbing stuff.

We have 150, so I ordered 200 plates. I ordered 500 napkins so each person could have two with dinner and one for cupcakes. Then a few extras...rather have too many napkins than not enough.

Napkins or plates? Or both? I found 1200 good Dixie napkins for $10.95 so I think I'm going to get those haha. We'll just have a LOT of napkins left over.

The more napkins the better! and you'll have them afterwards, just look at it that way. not really a waste of money, either way.

At least two per person on plates, four per on naps. You can always use them.

2 per person on plates, get a pack of cheap ones just in case and you can always use then later. 4 napkins each. Same with those get an extra. Don't forget the little cake plates. Extra forks too.

That is something that you can always use, so overestimate.
