How many Extra Invites do you need to order?

Phyllisann, on July 23, 2011 at 8:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I am only inviting 80 guest. Should I order extra invites to be safe? and if so how many more.

Remember- 80 guests DOES NOT EQUAL 80 invitations. How many households are you inviting? We invited 72 people, in 27 different households.

But I suggest ordering an extra 10% of the number of invites you need.

Yeah ive heard 10% before.... but then you have the people who try to get you to buy 50 extra... lol.,.. and meghan is very right,... we are seating 200 at our reception and i was making our rsvp cards and had it in my mind at 101 i have to make 99 more... but then my wedding planner pointed out to me not everyone gets their own invitation/rsvp card...duh... idk what i was thinking...lol

Like Meghan side you don't need 80 invitations . I only have 51 guest and need 26 invites.

Example: Mr & Mrs . Jim Joe = 2 people only need 1 invite because they live at the same address.

It will save you on Postage too! We are inviting 117 but only needed 72 invites, w/the 64 sent stamps, it costs about $50 for postage (I bought extras just in case).

We needed about 90 invites and they recommend getting 10% extra. We decided since it was only like $50 to get 125 instead of 100 invites, we'd do that which is actually working out well 'cause we're having to send out 3 extra invites which we may not have had if we hadn't ordered extras. (They didn't actually give us 125... they gave us AT LEAST 125... so we may have been ok if we'd had "at least 100".) Anyway, make sure you have enough invites for people on the B list (if you have them) plus an extra 10%. If you're as close as we were, it might make sense to spend more money now and have the extras if you need them than be SOL later or have to go back and spend a lot more to get them later.

Oh, and for addresses - remember that kids who don't live with their parents (or are out of high school) get their own address!

Many of us did the same thing - counted one per guest. I'd make sure I had 10-15 extras in case of errors or loss.

I'd suggest getting a few for your personal keeping. We have an invitation in our album and one that was laquered and made into a decoration for us. But I guess that's only a few more.

Thats a great Idea thanks Tiffany.

Sarah I was thinking about that as well I have several family members who live in the same house, but have different last names. So one house will have three invites.
