Less is more. I couldn't stand 2 out of the 4 girls I had in my wedding because they were always causing issues. 1 more than the other. Very demanding, rude, and making things about them. In the long run it's less money out of your pocket to have less girls also.

I agree with the PP that less is more but as a benchmark, much depends on the size of your wedding. If you are having a 300+ person wedding, it is more than acceptable to have 8+ bridesmaids.

For my FH and I, we are having a 100 person wedding and are keeping it to 3 attendants on each side (MoH/BM & 2 others).

Do keep in mind though that you want all your bridesmaids to get along. You dont want a feud at your bach party or anywhere else so make sure that all of your attendants can mesh well.

I don't think theres a thing as too many. but you have to remember the more people you have the more opinions you'll have and you'll have to get them all together at the same time at least once or twice. I kept it close and small with 3. (my sister, childhood best friend and future step daughter) only because if i didn't i knew i'd have like 10 lol

I've been to many weddings with 10- 12 maids and the same number of groomsmen. I believe its totally your choice. I'm having 2.

I am going to have 5; 2 are siblings and 3 are friends. I was a bridesmaid in a party of 7, and I didn't feel special at all. So I prefer to have smaller wedding party.

I had 9 bridesmaids and zero drama, the entire time. So more bridesmaids does not equal more drama. Drama solely depends on the women asked to be BM & the bride. More bridesmaids DOES equal more money for the bride & groom though, so think about that before deciding. We had 10 GM and 9 BM so we paid more for the rehearsal dinner, flowers, gifts, etc. We budgeted for it, so it was totally fine and it was a beautiful experience with our siblings and closest friends.

I would say this depends on your personality. 8 would be way too many for me, but I had a friend who had 12 and it was perfect for her. You need to think about the following:

    1. Are you more relaxed in a big group or a small group? If you are an introvert, I recommend going smaller.

    2. Will anyone cause drama? The bigger it is the bigger the chance for drama and you don't want this on your wedding day.

    3. Is it important to you to have these extra 3 stand up with you on your big day? If not, and you still want to included them, there are plenty of other things they can do!
