We were dating just over a year when he proposed. I met him briefly like six years ago, didn't see him for over four years and then ran into him again at a friend's birthday party. We dated for a year and he proposed. But we are in our 40's, so no time to waste.
We dated about 4 months before the proposal, but we are second chance lovers. We dated in high school. We started planning our wedding two months before the proposal. I told him I just couldn't really tell anyone until he officially proposed! Lol! I can't believe the wedding is now six months away!!!
To be fair, we started dating during our junior year in high school. We both went onto finish college. I went to graduate school after my undergrad. Then we moved in together and got both steady full time jobs in our respective fields (he's an artist and I'm a scientist). In my opinion, it is worth the wait because we can have the exact wedding we want and afford to pay for a majority of it without going (completely) broke.

A little over 4 1/2 years before we got engaged! Our wedding will be on our 6 year anniversary
FH was a client for well over 12 years. He would come to my office and I couldn't stop looking at this man, I would try not to look at him and just keep my head down. I thought he was so handsome! Turns out he felt the same way...I never knew it until 2 years age when he asked me out one day on Facebook. So to answer your question, we have been dating two year we started planing our wedding 9 months age. We chose our date locked down our venue and he then put a ring on it. It will be 3 years of being together as a couple when we get married.
We dated for 5 years before getting engaged. We've been together for 8 years and have known each other for 10 years (since we were friends before). Can't wait for the wedding next year!!
