How long to wait before following up on Rsvps?

Futuremrst, on July 11, 2019 at 9:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
Our RSVP deadline was July 6th, and it’s been almost 6 days past that. When should I follow up with the couple people that have not responded? I don’t want to make them feel like I’m nagging them or pressuring them for an answer, but I need to know by the 16th so that I can confirm how many tables to have & the general floor plan for the reception as well as how much food to have. Should I still give them a couple days? I’m moving Saturday so I either reach out Friday or I won’t have time until Monday (1 day before guest count is due).

From what I've heard, it's appropriate to give your guests a week past the deadline before following up. I would mention something like "If we don't hear back, we'll have to assume that you can't make it." That takes the pressure off of you to worry about adding in last-minute guests, because they'll know that they missed their chance. Good luck!

Right now. A week post deadline is appropriate. I'm giving my guests one week then we are making phone calls. So far we got over half of our rsvp's and have one month before deadline. Best of luck

Now! Don't add more stress to yourself over other's lack of response.

I also second a week. Don’t feel like you are nagging them. You gave them a deadline they missed it so they deserve to be nagged hahaha. Maybe some didn’t receive the invitation/or whatever.

I agree with Caytlyn. NOW. You didn't ask anything of them but a reply by a certain date. If they don't want to be nagged, they should have responded.

I would've done that already. If they had mailed it 6 days is long enough to have gotten to you already. I don't agree with the whole a week after thing. It doesn't take a week for mail.

I followed up the day after, I couldn't wait! Out of all the 61 people we contacted, we didn't get any RSVPs in the mail from them (if perhaps they sent the RSVP on our final date) so regardless of when we contacted them the response would have been the same.

I would follow up this weekend. You never know who forgot due to the holiday or if the mail is slow.

Now. Start contacting people now. You only have a few days left before your head count is due. Depending on how many people you have to chase down, it make take that long just to get ahold of everyone.

Let them know you haven't heard from them regarding the wedding, and your head count is due next week. If you have to leave messages say something like "if I don't hear from you by the 15th, I'll have to count you as a no."

Thank you everyone for the advice! I reached out to the three couples we were waiting on via text today (so they can respond on their own time), and now I’m just hoping they get back to me soon. I sent out the invites at the beginning of May and all guests had almost 2 months to RSVP before the deadline, so I suppose it’s not really nagging since it’s past the deadline.
