How long to receive certified copies of certificate? (nyc)

I called the city clerk’s office to request 2 certified copies of my marriage certificate so I can begin the name change process. I was told that due to COVID, everything would have to be mailed. So I had to Download and fill out a form, mail it with a money order for the fees and a copy of my license.

It’s been over a month and I have not received anything? Does it normally take this long?
I’ve tried calling again for a status update but no one seems to pick up 😖

I just sent my original marriage certificate to SS and they FedEx it back immediately with my other original documents. SS office however is taking me 4 tries per mail and drop-off.

Once I decided on the process of changing my last name, things kind of went smoothly....kinda. I too called and they told me if would be 8 weeks until I received my copies. I made an appointment before I called just to see and unfortunately it was for a marriage license so they were giving me the side eye when i came in BUT glad I did because they let me get copies in person and it took all of 15min. Keep calling and try calling early in the morning. I tried to make in person appointments ( SS was the only one and I was praying they sent my only copy back) as much as possible. People are not in the office so it's taking longer for everything!!!
