How long to get back my marriage certificate?

I got married over two weeks ago, and still have yet to receive a copy of my marriage certificate. My preacher had it mailed in the following monday. I wouldn't be too concerned but I really need to start my name changing process. I'm starting back college and really want it changed before classes and everything start. How long did it take you or do you know how long it typically takes?

Did you call the clerk in the office where it was returned? I know in NJ, they don't pro-actively send you a 'real' copy; you have to request it.

Call the office today.

In Maryland they don't send you a copy... you either have to go to the courthouse of the county where you got married and get copies there ($8/ea, you leave with it) or you can order them online (fine if you want to wait a bit longer).

PS - get at least 2 certified copies.
