How long should we wait?

Kendra, on April 14, 2020 at 11:51 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9
I know with everything going on vendors are probably swamped and uncertain about things. Our wedding is scheduled for July 2nd but with no certainty as to when this pandemic will die down, us still needing to send out invitations, and being considerate of our guests who are flying in or have been laid off, we are deciding to postpone. I reached out to the venue the end of March and they are gracious to not charge and fee for postponing, but i am waiting for our coordinator there to get back to me about September 2nd. I have already reached out once for a follow up and she confirmed availability for next year (was one of the options for us) but still no update on the dates we gave her for this year.

How long do you think we should wait before reaching back out? Monday will be 3 weeks...just don’t want to seem annoying or pushy

3 weeks is more than enough time to wait. I think you should reach out again tomorrow during the day. As long as you're nice (which I'm sure you are since you've been very patient) I'm sure it won't seem pushy.

I think you should reach out sooner rather than later. Better to be nice and pushy then lose out on dates.

Thank you all so much ladies!! Just didn’t want to seem too pushy or annoying, especially in these times. But also don’t want to lose out on potential dates that could work for us either.

Hi there, I would definitely reach out after 48 hours. My wedding too was July 3rd 2020 and I moved it to September 3rd, 2021. This was three weeks ago. May, June and most of July were already booked Thursday - Sunday because of all the postponements and new brides. I wouldn’t wait any longer and let them know you’d like to finalize right away so you can move on. In this climate, no hearing back right away you run of the risk of the dates not being available.

    Hi Kendra,

I'm sorry you are going through this! I think you have waited more than enough time. I would email her again and then follow up once more after 24 hours if you don't hear back.

I realize a lot of vendors are busy right now but 3 weeks is extremely long to be waiting on a response.

I wish you the best of luck. oG6xfPxhl22aqdvrsPVmmW6aSC1fsJJ1eVnkqYBF My fingers are crossed for you!

Hi Kendra, I'm so glad I found your post! We had to move our April 23 wedding and were contemplating moving it to July 2nd versus September 3rd. We are from the Philly area so I feel like I can relate to how you are feeling. It's definitely hard decision without knowing when social distancing will be lifted. I did hear PA would be back to 'normal' around mid-June. I feel like Southern Jersey would closely follow. Ultimately, I think we decided to stick with our September 3rd date. I hope your venue gets back to you soon with one of your desired date! Fingers crossed. Let us know what they say.

Yes these times def make it hard to make decisions with the tri-state and close surrounding states being hit so hard. I was going to suggest going for the September date to give yourself some extra time to get things squared away. I needed up hearing back from my venue and they are letting us select our date and then have a curtesy hold for another date. We are going to decide this week on a new date (definitely pushing back our 7/2 date) and then have the curtesy hold for 7/1/21.

Best of luck to you too!
