How long should it take to respond to my inquiries?

Hello community! I am trying to pick a venue but am having a heck of a time gathering data because everyone is taking so long to get back to me. Is this normal? I find myself getting agitated at the venues because it takes them a week or more to get back to me. I’ve had ONE get back to me within two days, and I’m very excited for my tour! It’s quite disheartening to find something that may work, and want to know more, but cannot get an email or phone call returned. Am I being unreasonable or is this a sign the venue may not be good? Thank you for your thoughts!

    Most of the times, I’ve had vendors/venues get back to me within 24 hours or a couple days. I’ve had a couple though that have taken a week or two at a time (or no response at all). It sucks, but it helps weed out the ones you should and shouldn’t consider. Unresponsiveness is not something you wanna deal with throughout the whole planning process

    Most of the vendors I have contacted have gotten back to me in a day or two! I agree with pp that it helps make the decision for you on who to go with. Good luck with the rest of your planning! 🎉

    I definitely didn’t have that issue. Vendors have been very good with responding. I wouldn’t want to go with someone who took that long to respond but that’s just me! Good luck 🍀 & happy planning.

    I used to work for a venue and always responded within a few hours and during a busy time at most two days. That’s ridiculous! All my vendors have been extremely responsive. I personally wouldn’t hire someone who is slow to get back with me because they’ll probably be hard to communicate with after booking as well. At most my photographer didn’t respond for 3 weeks because I emailed her while she was delevering her baby. I later found out from her instagram she’d be back in the office by a certain time after maternity leave and she emailed right away. Has been super responsive ever since. Be really careful! If they don’t seem to want your business don’t give it to them!

    Are you reaching out to them now? I would cut them a little bit of slack because it’s the holidays and seasonal places may be doing renovations (I know my venue is), dealing with holiday events or low on staff because of time off. I would think that if they don’t get back to you quickly in the new year it may be a sign venue that’s hard to work with.

    I am thinkinginf I agree. I run my own buiz, and if a client who was potentially worth thousands of dollars contacted me, I would make sure my work day was not over until they had heard from me.

    How did you contact them? If it was through WW or a form on their website, it may not have gone through.

    If you contacted them after Thanksgiving, I wouldn't write them off. A lot of venues used for weddings also are used for holiday events. I'd wait until January 7 and then reach out again.

    Usually it too the venues 24 hours or less to respond to me. I only had 1 that didn't respond to multiple emails so I took that one off the list of places. If you didn't answer I knew that place wasn't meant for us to have a wedding there. Good luck.

    Hmm it shouldnt take that long really. I had many venues respond to be in the same day. I used the contact forms here on wedding wire, the knot, wedding-spot.com, and their personal pages. I did notice some venues didn't respond at all and i figured it must have been a glitch with the contact and ended up trying to contact them directly. Give them all a chance though, you won't know until you actually do communicate with them and visit. The venue i have now actually never responded back to me the first time and i didn't notice. After having to choose a new venue i contacted them again and boom there they are! Wayy better than my first venue and cheaper. If after trying to contact them a few different ways, i'd move on to others.

    I've run into a lot of people taking awhile to get back to me. It's frustrating, but most of the people I've been trying to contact are small businesses who probably don't have the most help so I've tried to be forgiving.

    Especially this time of year though I would give them a little leeway since everyone is so busy around now.
