How long should i book my photographer for??

I have the choice to book my photographer for a few hours or the whole day, but I'm just not sure what I should do. I would like to save money, however, I know this is once in a lifetime event. Do you guys have any experience or suggestions of what I should do?

    We booked our photographer for 4 hours. Our wedding is smaller (30ish) and on the laid back side so we mainly want photos of our ceremony, our families and some candid ones during the reception. I don't want her for getting ready photos and FH and I aren't doing first looks
