That depends on how long is the time between the 2. My church and reception are 20-30 min apart, but my ceremony is at 1:30 and reception isnt till 6.

Your typical distance should be no more than 15 min away. But I think your biggest problem might be that the ceremony is long before the reception. That could really make or break your guest list! People aren't going to want to hang around almost 4 hours in between and if you have out of town guests what are they suppose to do? You have to remember they are already giving up 6-7 hours of their day for a normal wedding. To have to waste literally an entire day on your wedding seems a bit much in the long run! Good luck though hope it all works out for you.

Not far at all. Any one from the city atleast, understands it takes an hour to get anywhere anyways.

Thus, 30 mins. is just fine, especially if a cocktail hour awaits their arrival.

I think that is fine!! My brothers church and hall were about the far away and it worked out ok...except the hall was a tad too small to fit everyone, we were a little crammed..

I feel 30 mins is just fine. From our church to our reception, it is about 20 mins, we were at a wedding in May and it was 30 mins, not a big deal to me Smiley smile

I think 30 mins away is fine too, however I agree with the post Dreamseventsbycourtney, people aren't going to want to wait around for your reception, can you adjust that? Best of luck.

30 minutes isn't too far. If there's a sizable time difference between your wedding and reception time that actually helps to narrow the gap a bit. Smiley winking

Don't feel bad about the 30 minutes. The distance between our Church and Reception hall is 40 minutes lol Our ceremony is at 2:30 and our reception (cocktail hour) doesn't start until 6:00.

I don't think that's too far of a distance of at all. My reception venue is about 20 - 30 minutes away from the church, depending on traffic. My ceremony will be over around 4:30 and the cocktail hour begins at 5.

This reply is really to the InStyle Event Company. This user wrote, "...I think your biggest problem might be that the ceremony is long before the reception. Ok, 4 hours is a long time for guests to wait around, but it could give people enough time to go out, have lunch, so they are not starving, go back to the hotel to rest up before the reception, or catch up with friends and family before the reception. I would hope at the very least people wouldn't view the wedding as a waste of an entire day!! What an awful thing to say! Shame on you InStyle Event Company!!
