How long is dinner time?

Oh So, on May 22, 2011 at 10:19 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

UGH! TWO WEEKS! I'm having trouble and I need your help!

So buffet dinner: takes some time for everyone (100 people) to get their food, eat and sit down. TIMES ARE ESTIMATES OF COURSE.

I'm making a timeline for the caterer and DJ but I got stuck with this part:

3:30pm Dinner. End at 4:45pm. --->> that's an 1 hr & 15 min for serve and eat

4:35pm Cake cutting. Dessert. --->> while people are finishing up we cut the cake

5:00pm Bride sings. First dance. Couples Dance. -->> will people still be eating cake?!

5:10pm Dancing. Coffee/Tea time.

*is it enough time to cut 100 pieces of cake and eat before the couples dance?

    I'm not sure but I think it's fine if those things overlap a bit. If a couple hasn't finished their cake and they want to participate, they can always leave it on the table and come back to it.

    I'm a little confused. Are you serving your wedding cake as dessert? If so they can't finish up cake while you are cutting it.

    Edwina, I believe she means while people are finishing up eating their dinner, they cut the cake, since the times overlap.

    I am not sure about your time limits. An hour and 15 minutes may seem like a long time to get food and eat, but with 100 guests and some guests may "move slow" in the line when getting food and etc. It may not be enough.

    Also, people may be full from their meal and don't want cake right away, perhaps you could change your time-line around some.

    You can have dinner at 3pm and the DJ just keeps an eye out and then when the bride/groom and most guests are done - the whole Bride sings. First dance. Couples Dance can be done then after that you guys can do the cake cutting? just an idea.
