How long is a good length for a engagement?

nakishia, on June 7, 2011 at 7:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I just got engaged a month ago and I feel like I am so behind. And everything is so expensive...

6 months to 2 years is the average length of engagements (Mine is 6 months). Use the checklist on this website and it will tell you exactly what you should be doing and when. If money is tight have a longer engagement so you can save up.

Congrats and welcome to WW well to me it's not a set length of an engagement. Some people s engaged for 3 mths maybe 6 some a year or longer then that. I have been dating my FH for 4 years and will have a year long engagement. How long have you guys been together.

It depends on the couple, money and what not ... do you and FS have any other goals before you get married? Like starting a family or buying a house? then wait till you reach that goal ... I will have an 18 month long engagement, we did this because of the lack of a job, my parents needed more time to save up, and we had already been together for 4 years when he proposed so we decided what's another 18 months and so far I'm glad we waited and didn't go with our first wedding date of December of last year ...

It also depends on your region. where i'm currently living you can easily get married in 3 months- 3-6 is standard. but the state we are getting married in you would have a very hard time finding a venue in less then 6 months unless you where willing to do an off day or random places. Statistically the average is like 14 months. My will be 18 months. i would have liked to do it sooner, but FH wanted a summer wedding- and this way I can graduate first.

We have been together for two years, and we are paying for the wedding. I want a outdoor wedding so I am trying to do it in 16 months but it seems like everything is getting booked up.

It really does depend on you. You may need a longer engagement to get things together and save the money for everything, or buy things a little bit at a time.
