How long for hair? How long for make-up?

LetItSnow, on July 4, 2014 at 4:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

We are all getting our hair done at once but I was going to get one make-up person to do each of us, but I don't want to reserve 4 hours for make-up! What's your plan?

I've set out 1.5 hours for hair. Will I be rushed?

Your MUA/hair stylist should be able to come up with a timeline for hair and make-up. At least that's what mine did. My hair and make-up took about 2 hours. Everyone else (2 people) had hair done and those took about an hour to complete both. The place you are going or the person coming to your home should be able to give you more guidance.

I just met with my make up and hair lady and she is calculating 4 hours for 6 people and that is with an assistant. You have to remember that tools etc need to be cleaned in between people…. Ask your person how much time they will need for your bridal party.

Edit: also, my hair and make up alone took an hour during the trial.

Most hair and make up people say for the bride set aside a hour for hair and 45 minutes for make up. For the bridal party 30 minutes each for hair and 20 minutes each for make up. I would ask the the hair and make up people how long it will take them to do it. You don't want to be rushed by not setting enough time a side.

My hairstylist (I go to her regularly) said once I make the decision on how I will wear my hair (not sure if I will wear it up, down or half up/half down) she will let me know how long it will take. However, she said to allot for about 2 hours for my hair.

My makeup artist said it will take 1.5 for makeup.

Yeah better ask her since she's the one doing all the makeup and hair for everyone. Usually they can give you a timeline. When my friend got married, she actually started with us BMs first early in the morning and just in time for the photographer to show up and start shooting the bride getting ready with her hair and makeup.

My MUA said to allot 1 hour for me and 30 mins for everyone else. I think it is similar for hair.

Definitely ask your MUA. To me, depending on the size of your bridal party/who is getting hair/make up done....that is rushed and not much time.

I have me, 4 bridesmaids, Mom/FMIL and another girl having hair and make up done and my MUA/Hair people will be showing up at 7 am. There will be 3 of them so people can be getting done at the same time and they still plan on being there until 11am to finish.

I would rather set aside 4 hours of my time and have something done right than only set aside 1.5 hours for multiple people and not have them look perfect.

I have 4 bridesmaids and am getting one hair stylist and one MUA for all of us. I am planning for at least 3 hours. Both will be on site so one girl can get hair and one can get makeup while the other 3 hang out.

Check with your hair stylist and MUA because it depends on what is being done and how speedy they are. We started getting ready at 11 and I had my makeup done first. It took an hour. I had 2 ladies doing hair for 7 people total. My hair took about 45 minutes. When we left for our first look at 1:15, everyone had just finished their hair and the last girl was getting her makeup done (only 4 others besides me got makeup done, though). So, for us, makeup definitely took longer.
