How long does a hair/make up trial take?

Lolerskates84, on June 2, 2016 at 10:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Honestly asking. Is this a 2 hour endeavor? Or more like 4 hour? My weekends are limited and I have very little PTO so need to know what I'm dealing with...

Thanks!

It depends on your stylist. (or stylists) Are you having the same person do both?

Also, when I had my first hair trial, I was there for a while. I wasn't happy with what was happening with my hair, so the girl pinned it a few different ways. When I had my second trial (with someone different) I loved my hair right away. So, it really depends!

Is the same person doing both the same day?

It took mine about an hour for hair but I tried 2 different styles.

    40 minutes for make up.

Mine were 2 different trials though because they were 2 different people.

Agree w/ Kristy - it depends. I was there for about 2 hours.

Same salon, different people - one for hair, one for make-up

Mine took about 3 hours. We spent about a half hour just talking and discussing what I wanted. Then she would pause every so often during the process to make sure I was liking the direction it was going. In general everyone I know said the trial took longer than the day of because we spent time tweaking the vision.

Average about an hour each. Maybe slightly less or a bit longer if you are trying more than one style (makeup or hair)

My hair is naturally very curly. Should I get a blow out done before the trial to make it easier/faster? That way she wont have to wash and blow dry my hair (?)

ETA: It takes about an hour to blow dry it straight (sometimes longer)

It shouldn't take more than 2 hours for both I wouldn't think. Just depends on how quick your Hair & make-up people work.

Check with your stylist. My HMUA scheduled me in for 3 hours for my hair and makeup trial.

Mine was between 1-2 hours because we talked for a bit before they got started and would also pause every little bit to have me look and see if we are heading in the right direction. I also had my hair and makeup artists do their magic at the same time because they have done this so many times before and have a whole routine down.

I would give yourself at least 3 hours. You don't want to feel rushed and like you can't get something done a different way because you don't have the time.

Are they working on both at the same time? My hair takes about an hour and a half and makeup takes an hour.

@Lolerskates84 I would check in with your stylist about straightening your hair, though I'm guessing if you want it straight, she will suggest this. Before my trial, my hair stylist gave me a list of prep instructions like washing and drying, no products, etc. before I told her I wanted to have my hair done with my natural curls. Time wise, it took almost 3 hours for my hair and makeup with 2 people because we tried different looks.
