How Long Do the Photos Take?

Loganne, on May 26, 2017 at 12:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

I already have a thread going, but have not received much feedback, so I'll reword it so it will make a little more sense

We plan on taking all our wedding photos before the ceremony. So all the bridal party, bride and groom, and family will all have to be done by 5:00ish. How long should we block out for pictures?

Talk with your photographer. It's going to depend on the size of your WP and family.

I shared my day of timeline with our photographer for his feedback and those were the questions he had for me.

An hour is the max I would keep your guests waiting for photos. I plan to make a list of people I want to be sure to getting pictures with like people combos (mom and siblings, just siblings, grandparents, etc). Hopefully this will help us stay on track with the photos so we can get to the reception in a timely manner.

We had a wedding party of 6 the two of us and we had 1hr and 45min and honestly it barely felt enough to get all the types of shots we wanted. But we were traveling to several locations so that ate up some time.

As for family portraits. We managed to get 12 specific shots with all 80 of our guests within 15 minutes because we were soooo organized and our DJ (shotlist caller) set the groups up perfectly. We were way ahead of schedule in that area!

Yep, talking it over with your photographer is the best bet. Everyone's wedding day is a bit different.

Mine suggested 1.5 hours for: 1st look, WP pics & FH's family pics. Then another hour for a group guest pic, 2 family pics on my side & our sunset pics.
