How long do i need my venue?

Danielle, on February 20, 2018 at 12:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
Hello! I have finally found my dream venue! I was getting very discouraged given my very limited budget. I absolutely love the place! However, they only allow a total of 4 hours, one to set up and ceremony for the ceremoney

Didn't mean to hit post yet lolol. There's 3 hours for ceremony and reception, and one hour for setup. That does not sound like enough time by any means! I need advice!

Yeah, you should be getting at least 4.5-5.5 hours. Ceremony (30 mins) if they have a chapel and you're doing it there, a cocktail hour and 3-4 hours for the reception. So it depends on what you're doing all total. It might make sense, might not.

I can't imagine getting it done in only 4 hours. But if your budget is an issue I'm not sure what other options you have. Can you ask about paying extra for more time? What is the reasoning for the short time allotment?

My venue was like that. Which is why we opted for a Thursday wedding. 2 hrs set up, 4 hour event, and an hour for tear down is $600. But it includes chair and table rentals alone with decorations. Maybe weekday could be an option for you Smiley smile

I have my venue for 12 hours. I don’t nevessarily need it for THAT long, but I definitely would need more time than 4 hours!

I have my whole venue for 8 hours and they said that my DOC could go in earlier. Umm 4 hours is not enough for anything

We reserved some areas of a park and our reserved time is 8 am until sunset. We do need to rent chairs for the ceremony but our Venue was less than $400 and it's the park I played in growing up so it sentimental.

We had our reception venue from 4:30pm to 11pm (and I was able to get in the day before to decorate). 3 hours for ceremony and reception would be OK if you’re planning a 2pm ceremony followed by a cake and punch reception, but if you are planning on serving a full meal it’s not enough time.

We booked our venue (a private beach) for 3 1/2 *days*. LOL

Seriously, though, I don't know how four hours is going to be enough. Can you pay for more time?

My venue offers a 3 hour ceremony and reception option (I'm not doing it) that basically covers the ceremony and a quick reception. I'm not even sure if it's a full dinner or just more of an extended cocktail hour. No DJ, no dances, none of that. It may work for some, but if you want all those things I think 5 hours is standard.

My reception venue is 6 hours and they set everything up for me, I just have to bring all decorations the day before and tell them how I want it set up. The ceremony is at our church which is about 45 minuets to an hour. I definitely don’t think you will have enough time if you want to serve a meal and have dancing.

We have our venue for the entire day, until 12am.

We're able to get in at 10am to begin setting up. The ceremony is at 4:30 with guests arriving 3:45-4:15ish. Ceremony ends at 5, there will be a cocktail hour so we can take pictures, and dinner is being served at 6pm. We have the hall until 12am, the party will end around 10:30-11 and then we can pack up and head out.

3 hours seems very...short, unless you're just doing the ceremony there, or only have a light reception/lunch afterwards.

We have 6 hours of event time (ceremony & reception) but we are allowed on site for set up started at 10am.

4 hours seems like way too little time.
