How long between invitations and rsvp deadline?

Gen, on January 9, 2019 at 3:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I know there’s all these threads about when people send invitations and when RSVP deadlines are in relation to the wedding, but when is your RSVP deadline in relation to when you sent invitations?

Our wedding is June 2 and we were planning to mail invitations in March (12ish weeks in advance since 50% of guests are out of town). We made our RSVP deadline May 2 so that is 1 month before the wedding, but guests will have 2 full months to RSVP after they receive their invitations. I was worried if we made our deadline more than a month before the wedding then people’s plans would change.

But is 2 months leaving them too much time to RSVP? Are they going to put it off and then forget? Should I move up the RSVP deadline? Am I overthinking? Lol.

How much time did you leave between sending invites and your RSVP deadlines?

    Hey date twin!

We’re planning on sending our invites out on March 25th, with a response deadline of May 2nd. So invites out 10 weeks in advance, RSVPs due a little over 5 weeks later (1 month before the wedding) Smiley smile

Did you send out save the dates? If so, I’d trust that your out-of-town guests are already thinking about their travel arrangements and you could send your invites out on a slightly shorter timeline. If not, then 12 weeks sounds good! I agree, though, that you don’t want your deadline more than a month out.

Hi date twin! We did send out save the dates but we sent them electronically, and about 10 months before the wedding. Honestly I so regret doing that because I think people have forgotten/lost the emails lol since so many people have been asking us about the date and details for their travel. I should’ve either waited longer before sending them out or done it on paper. Oh well, too late to change that now, but I’d still like to give them the invitations earlier since people are already bugging us for them :p

You being my date twin and also having a May 2 deadline is reassuring! May 2 is a Thursday, do you also plan on spending that following weekend hunting down stragglers? Haha

Our wedding is July 20. Our invites will go out in the first week of May, and our RSVP date is June 10. So a little over a month. I don't think 2 months is too long!

Our wedding is March 23. Our RSVP due date is February 24 (all electronic, so a Sunday is fine), and final count is due March 7. I will send out invites by January 19. (Yikes... I just realized that is so soon!!)

Our wedding is February 23rd, we sent ours out the first week of December with a RSVP date of January 18th. We have a little more than a week but less than 50% repsonses in 😑. I dont need final numbers until the week before but I built in some time to chase people down and also wanted plenty of time to do seating charts and such. I think people either mail it out within the first week or they forget, so I'm not sure if the difference of two weeks will matter a whole lot.

    My timeline looks like this:
    Invites go out Feb. 2
RSVPs due Mar. 30 (8 weeks)
Final numbers for Baker April 11th
Room block cut off April 19th
Final numbers for venue due May 4th
    Wedding May 11th

95% of our guests are out of town so I definitely wanted to get things going sooner rather than later!

We sent invites Nov. 13th and our deadline was Dec. 22nd.

We sent save the dates early (10 months out), so our out of state guests should have had enough time to book travel or anything they needed by the time actual invites went out, especially because we are getting married a few weeks after Christmas. Also because of the Christmas mail, we didn't want anyone to look at the invite and toss it aside thinking they had a ton of time and it would get lost with holiday cards (this still happened), we also didn't want to be sitting around over Christmas wondering who was or wasn't coming that didn't RSVP. This deadline worked great for us, we got our numbers to vendors 3 weeks out from the wedding, had plenty of time to do a seating chart, etc. We gave almost 5 weeks between but not quite. I felt like any longer was too long because our guests were either local or traveling from really far.

Haha I am definitely anticipating some stragglers! I’ll probably wait the weekend to see if some last RSVPs trickle in, and then I’ll be full force annoying people that Monday Smiley xd

My cake/cupcake person can add or remove a dozen cupcakes up to 6 weeks before our date so I will be giving a deadline of 7-8 weeks out.
