So I booked my hair stylist a couple weeks ago. Her rate was $175 (including trial) and a $75 travel fee. It felt really expensive, but my hair is very important to me and my fiance said that it made no sense to spend tons of money on everything else and not spend money to make sure I felt beautiful. So once I got over the initial sticker shock, I feel it's totally worth it to spend $250 on hair. Makeup though, I'm unsure about. I have two different quotes and I'm struggling to choose. The first girl is a local girl I went to school with. She's done several weddings around my area and is good. Her work is definitely better than I can do, but it's definitely not magazine perfect. Her price is $45 (including the travel). She doesn't include a trial in that price but I could probably add one on for cheap. The second girl is a professional artist that specializes in weddings. Her work is amazing, and she can create just about any look I would want. I'm definitely more confident in her contouring abilities and her stuff is like something out of a magazine. Her price is $180 (including trial) and a $75 travel fee. Now, I am usually very much a "you get what you pay for" person, which is why I went with a more expensive hair person. But now I'm trying to decide if makeup matters enough to pay 5 times more for it to be perfect. On the one hand, as long as my face looks good, I don't know if I care if it looks like something out of a magazine. As long as it photographs well. And it would be nice to cut some cost there since I'm spending so much on hair. On the other hand, I would love to be totally magazine pretty for a day. Do you think it's worth it? What's your opinion on the situation? One minute I'm leaning towards the first girl, the next I'm leaning towards the second. I can't decide, and I really need to get one of them booked within the next couple days.
