So I think I am having a personal delima... I dont really love how the chairs at my reception location look by themselves (they are the standard maroon and gold hotel chairs you would see at any standard hotel conference). My colors are bright pink, light pink, chocolate brown and silver and the chairs dont match AT ALL... My parents (mostly my dad, who is funding the majority of the wedding) wont pay for them because he thinks they are a waste of money and my FI doesnt want them because he says it looks like your sitting on a cloud (plus he is just cheap). I just dont want to be unhappy and I want everything to look pretty and put together... I am not against paying for them ourselves but I just dont want to waste my money if people wont care or even notice them. I also dont want to look back on my wedding day in 20 years and remember hating the chairs (what a dumb thing to hate LOL) UGGGGGGG what to do... what to do...

I had the same dilemma. I did not really want to spend the extra $$ on them, but decided to go with them anyway for more color. The reason for going with them was that our wedding is red and white and we have more white then red. The tables will have white linens and the centerpiece is a 12” red taper candle in a glass hurricane with a white wreath around it. The napkins will be red. So by choosing the chair covers, we will now have white chair covers with red sashes to give it the extra pop

I dont think people will be looking at the chairs.

However if is something that YOU think is going to bother

you, then you may want to cover them, even if you do it yourself with fabric from a fabric store.

Yay, I am SO glad you brought this up because I'm having the exact same issue. I really don't want to pay for chunks of cloth just to make my chairs look prettier. Our chairs don't match at all either, but like Laura L said, who the hell remembers the chairs? lol

I had to add my two cents here....half of what I owned when I was in high school...and when I first got married...were maroon (burgandy) and pink and they go very well together.

You might take one table set up and go there and see if you can set up a table to critque....and try it without and with...take a digital camera.

Crystal is right. I did that exact thing. I set up two tables with different arrangements. With sashes, w/o sashes-- with different linens, with different colored chargers ect. Take tons of digi pics. It will make sense once you get home and you can stare at those pictures for a couple of days. I know it helped me make some keen decisions.

You may want to run the photos past an objective person like a coworker who has good taste. Ask them " If you walked into this room and it had this table with/without these chair covers, would it matter to you?" They may be able to give you some insite since they are not directly involved and have nothing to lose.

I personally think the chair covers make a difference. It's not something I would skip, especially if it's something that's already bothering you.
