How has/did wedding planning affected your relationship?

Did it bring you closer together? Push you further apart? Something else? Just curious to see how it has affected people differently.

Nothing has changed. Neither of us has been high strung about the planning. We know it's one day but we have the rest of our lives to focus on. Once you put it all in perspective and spend within your means, you can focus on your marriage and not the wedding. We're both event people so we know the week of will be hectic but that's expected.

My fiance just wants me to handle it all so our relationship hasn't changed much.

It hasn't so far. Maybe that's an advantage of having been together for 8 years. We're not new to stress or planning things.

I wouldn't say anything has changed, but we have different priorities regarding the wedding so that's caused a few disagreements. Other than that, we're just really excited to be getting married.

It definitely caused some fights but we came out stronger in the end.

No change, we are still the same. There have been moments that brought us closer and moments that we have had difference in opinion.. But overall we both never go to bed angry with each other and often times I'm right. Lol

Definitely closer! I haven't had much support from others so he's been the best listener & encourager. Keeping me from losing it!

The only thing it's really affected was improving our compromise skills. Oh and the bank account. Other wise we're still the same people we were before just planning a big old wedding.

This whole process is really bringing us closer. We keep saying "it's us against the world (of crazy family members, stressing out over vendors/options, etc.)" We know (and keep reminding each other) that we're on the same team. We're in the process of flipping a house as well, so there's been a lot of teamwork there too with us trying to remedy situations with the contractor.

Our relationship has stayed pretty much the same. Since we went with an all inclusive venue there isn't a ton of planning.

We had a big fight when we were about 3 weeks away from the wedding. It wasn't disagreeing about the planning that caused the fights, it was more that we were stressed. We were very busy leading up to the wedding, and spending so much money was stressful too. On top of that, I was hardly sleeping because I was waking up super early every day to exercise and lose those last few pounds before the wedding. I'm super grumpy when I'm tired, so I'm sure that didn't help. We talked it out though and were able to realize that we were taking our stress out on each other. In the last few weeks before the wedding we forced ourselves to relax and we were super close and excited.

It's been the same for us thank GOD I've heard some horror stories. I'm glad we haven't made the wedding the center of our lives. We can't wait to be married but it hasn't been everything we talk about.

We're getting married August 20th of this year, and we got engaged Christmas 2015 - so we've had a short engagement. We're both laid back individuals in a small town, so we didn't want anything too fancy. It was a little stressful in Spring I'd say, we got into a couple of intense arguments because I felt like the entire thing was all on me, and money strain was an issue, but it only lasted a couple weeks of that real deep stress anxiety and arguing. It's been smooth sailing ever since, and we're getting more and more excited as the date gets closer. I'd say we're closer together now than we ever were. We had to really change large priorities around and make big decisions together. All in all I think we got lucky, we make a good team and we've learned to lean on one another for support.
