how hard could 50 50 tickets possibly be?

slvrtear23, on March 23, 2010 at 6:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

A lot harder than i thought. i was just going to make them myself but i have no clue how to set them up and i can't find a darn thing online. if anyone knows of any good websites please let me know. Or if anyone knows of a cheap place to order them that would be ok to. thanks for all your girls!

Can't you just get a ream of tickets from like the dollar store? Or Walmart?

@ Teresa, I suck at explaining things. I'll leave it to someone else. haha.

You should be able to get them from any party supply store. We sell rolls of 2000 for $6.50 in a variety of colors...I doubt you could make them cheaper!

Pre-made raffle tickets from a party store is definitely the cheapest option. If you want to be creative, you can draw a # on the bottom of a favor that fits with your theme. Having said that I don't think a 50/50 at a wedding is kind of tacky. It's typically done for a fundraiser. People buy a raffle ticket for $1 or 6 for $5. The winner gets 1/2 the pot and the organization keeps the other 1/2.

Oh wow I think that's so wrong I'm sorry maybe i'm being rude but thats like saying hey come to my wedding oh by the way don't forget you wallets and our presents. While you at it why not have a cash bar and ask for people to pay for some/all of their meal. I'm sorry but I think it's tacky.

@Laura a dollar dance is different a dollar dance is a cultural tradition and it has history. It is about the community setting up a young family and people give out of love not to win a prize.

If the tickets are to do some kind of raffle I don't think a wedding is the right place to do something like that. That kinda thing is reserved for charity and church banquets and fundraisers not a wedding.

If you do this you need to make sure you check in with your county or city to get a permit. Most places consider this gambling. I know when I do it for work events I have to apply for a permit from the county that allows me to a one day casino. and the value of the prize can't be over a certain amount.

Dollar store rolls of tickets are definitely the way to go, BTW.

I have to agree with this being a very uncool way of asking for cash at your wedding. 50-50 tickets are perfect for fundraisers and other non profit events. Your wedding - no. Your fh is on point and you really should reconsider this and not do it at all.

@slvrtear, I'm sorry. I usually say you should do whatever you want on your day but this one is definitely something toreconsider. It's not very tasteful to ask for cash this way. Maybe you could just do a dollar dance or register for gift cards. :-)

We have 50 50 Raffle tickets at our Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks games. They do it for Fundraisers for Charity. How it works at the games is you purchase a ticket. They have a drawing during the game and the ticket that is pulled the winner wins half of what is raised from the sell of the tickets that night and other half goes to the charities. I don't have an opinion personally about it as far as your wedding because you can do what you want to do but I am curious in what way you plan to do it at your wedding? As well, as someone said, the Dollar Store should have tickets. That would probably your best bet.

I do think it's tacky. You should do want you want, of course, but be aware that a lot of your guests may be a little appalled. And you put them in an uncomfortable position of feeling like they have to participate (lest they seem cheap).
