How far off of the ground should your dress be?? 👰

Amanda, on January 23, 2019 at 12:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
I'm ordering my dress off azazie since they're having a 10% off sale. All their standard dresses come with a hem to hollow size of 61 inches. I had my fiance measure me and hem to hollow I am 58 inches. How far off the ground should the dress be? That's the question lol also-keep in mind, I WILL be barefoot and on the sand 💙 wheres all my seamstress ladies?? HELP

I'm not sure but I need help to! I originally wanted the front to be touching the floor but read that it should be an inch off the ground so I don't trip. With the heels I want to wear its about an inch off the ground. Can't decide if I like that or not.

Since it's a beach wedding I'd definitely want it off the ground a bit. Does your dress have a train?

Yesss, unfortunately my dress has a chapel train. It's actually been pretty much a super big dilemma lol you know when you try a dress on and it's THE ONE, well that's how I feel about this one-- I can't not buy this dress I know it's going to be hot! I'm getting married mid July in Florida at 6 p.m. on the beach but I've never been very traditional so I'm going to wing it I just don't want to be tripping over my dress! I've added a picture for reference but this was a standard size and its hem to hollow is 61 inches, it doesn't seem like I would be able to take the three off to make it 58 which is my measurement and then also another inch off to take it off the ground does that make sense LOL

This is a total do-it-yourself wedding, I really don't want to go to Davids Bridal and get measured for a dress I'm not going to buy from them LOL they have YouTube videos on how to measure yourself so I should be able to figure this out right? LOL

I think this will be fine! So many people pull off beach weddings with long trains so I'm sure you can do it too!

My dress came with a chapel length train, but that was just too much for me, and unnecessary in our venue (no big church aisle to walk down). So we cut off a chunk of it...16 inches at the longest center point. It's still about a sweep train length, and we'll bustle it up to get the rest off the floor.

My dress is from Azazie with custom measurements. I didn't bother going to a seamstress or anything for measurements...FH did it one morning in our bathroom...came out great!

Oh my gosh, thank you for that tid bit of info! I just found out they reimburse you for alteration so I'm going to get my size and if I have to hem it up don't pay for it which is awesome

I was also told that there could be a 2-3 in difference in the dress length (I ordered from a boutique so I'm not sure thats the case for you or not) so if I ordered a 61 it could come in anywhere from 58 - 64. I was so worried I would end up with the one on the short end so I ordered up a length just to be safe. Its so easy to have the dress taken up I'm not worried.
