How far in advance should you buy you wedding dress?

I'm getting married in May and I haven't started dress shopping. I went into a wedding dress boutique yesterday and they said I should be buying a dress now because dresses can take 6 months to come in and the I should leave 2 months for alts. I bought mine in March for my October wedding. It took about 2 months to come in.

Ordering time will vary by store and designer, but I think the "sweet spot" is 9 months before your wedding date! This gives plenty of time for your dress to come in, and also leaves plenty of time for alterations!!

Depends on where you go, I had mine custom made after going to Castle Couture and the designer was there and put a few dresses together which was May 2017 and it was ready 2 weeks ago.

I got engaged in Feb and started in March looking but I waited til June to find the 1 & my dad ordered it so he has it.. weight gain I lost the weight to size my self for the dress..
